Bio

True Rosaschi is a native Californian. Being profoundly inspired by studying improvisation and composition with W.A. Mathieu, he  developed his love of teaching music to adults as a means for creative discovery. This approach of working with adult students and committing to composition spawned an interest in  building bridges of accessibility to contemporary music through technology.

A frequent lecturer in New York and internationally, integrating music with cross-cultural and Post-Modernist theory, Rosaschi is developing educational models for adults in transformative learning with the confidence in realizing that it is never too late for embarking on a musical journey and establishing a meaningful competence.  Finishing his undergraduate studies in 1995 at The California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, he was significantly affected by experimental processes and Superstructuralism by meeting Dr. Mutombo Mpanya, a Systems Dynamics theorist there. Furthering his efforts toward composition and electroacoustic music, he moved to Paris to study at IRCAM and was part of a year-long composition course at the Center of Composition for the Music of Iannis Xenakis - CCMIX. Rosaschi then entered the Electronic Music and Recording Media program at Mills College of California where he earned his Masters degree in 2003. There he studied composition with Alvin Curran, Fred Frith, Maggie Payne, Chris Brown and  Pauline Oliveros. He has been an adjunct professor teaching digital music and creative process at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City since 2013.

In 2005 with Oliveros, he created a live networked performance  from Vilnius, Lithuania to New York. During this time, he lived in Vilnius, Lithuania and continued lecturing and performing throughout Europe and the United States including composing the music for David Popalisky's "Barred from Life" and "Fatherhood". Rosaschi has been in residence at the Visby International Centre for Composers in Sweden.  His work has been performed in The United States and throughout Europe. He recently relocated to New York City to pursue his passion for music and to live in a larger creative community.
